Our Community
Parent morning teas
Families at La Vang have opportunities to meet via community morning teas, the parent meet and greet, Book Week, sports day, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day celebrations and Christmas at La Vang. Family Morning Teas occur on the first Friday of each month at 9.00am. All parents and carers are welcome to join us.
Communication
Our Lady of La Vang communicates regularly with the school community. Fortnightly newsletters share school happenings, current news, and student experiences.
The Seesaw App is a platform where school wide news is shared with current families, including notifications and newsletters. Teachers can share information directly to their class and individual families about student learning, upcoming events and learning topics.
Sustainability
Our Lady of La Vang is committed to creating sustainable learning and reducing our footprint on the planet. Our students learn to recycle and compost and to care for their environment.
Many of our students have an interest in growing plants, fruit and vegetables. With the support of Catholic Charities and the City of Charles Sturt we have an established school garden. Establishing the La Vang Patch was a direct response from our school to the Bishops Social Justice Statement 2021, ‘Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor’ which focuses on caring for the earth and sustainability.
Catholic Charities
Our School is fortunate to benefit from an annual grant from Catholic Charities. The grant has supported a range of additional equipment, buses and environmental improvements. We thank Catholic Charities for their ongoing support.
Parish
We are part of the Hindmarsh-Findon Catholic Parish. Families whose children are interested in Sacramental preparation are supported through the parish, working collaboratively with other schools within the Parish.
